CDA FAQs
Startup Answers for dancers, djs, choreographers, & creative clients.
Agency Basics
-
CDA is a niche arts job board and creative staffing & booking agency focused on dancers, DJs, and choreographers. We help creatives find gigs and temp/part‑time roles, and we help studios, adult dance companies, weddings, venues, DJs, and small brands find reliable talent.
We also offer paid membership tiers (“the Collective”) for talent who want curated opportunities, career support, and portfolio/social‑media guidance on top of the free job board.

Some Listings may be posted directly by CDA; others may be submitted by third‑party clients or organizations.
Membership (“the Collective”)
Optional paid tiers for dancers, DJs, and choreographers who want:
Access to curated and partner‑only gigs from CDA’s network.
Priority consideration when CDA is actively sourcing for a role or event.
Career navigation and consult support.
Help planning and filming content for your portfolio/socials.
Occasional cross‑promotion on CDA’s channels when appropriate.
You can use the job board without joining, but members get access to a deeper layer of support and opportunities.

Most CDA opportunities fall into one or more of these buckets:
One‑off gigs: weddings, parties, nightlife entertainment, corporate mixers, brand activations, and content shoots.
Short‑term or part‑time roles: studio teaching, adult company work, intensives or seasonal projects.
Creative collaborations: music video shoots, social media content, brand campaigns, and special events.
Some of these are posted publicly on the job board; others are shared first or only within CDA’s membership network when they come through our private relationships and partnerships.
-
No. CDA does not guarantee:
That you’ll be selected for any particular gig or role.
A minimum number of bookings, auditions, or offers.
Any specific income level or career outcome.
Membership fees pay for access to services and support (curated opportunities, coaching, content help), not for guaranteed work.
Your results depend on your skills, fit for specific roles, availability, professionalism, and client decisions.
-
For talent:
Visit the job board and browse current Listings.
Read the description, requirements, and application instructions carefully.
Apply directly via the listed method (through CDA or the client, depending on the post).
For clients:
Submit a Listing with clear role/gig details (who, what, where, when, pay or range, and how to apply).
CDA may lightly edit Listings for clarity and format before posting.
CDA does not guarantee that every Listing is still open or that every application will receive a reply, especially for external postings.
Memberships
-
Membership in “the Collective” is designed for creatives who want more than just a job board.
Typical member‑only benefits include:
Curated & partner‑only opportunities: Gigs and roles that come directly through CDA’s network (DJs, indie artists, small brands, venues, studios, adult companies, weddings, etc.) and are shared first or exclusively with members.
Priority consideration: When CDA is actively staffing a project, we look at active members and their fit first.
Career navigation support: Guidance on the types of work to pursue, how to talk about yourself, and how to make decisions as opportunities come in.
Portfolio & social support: Practical advice on what to film and post, how to present your work, and how to position yourself online.
Content capture: At select rehearsals, events, or sessions, CDA may help film content you can reuse on your own channels, with potential cross‑features on CDA’s platforms.
Exact benefits and pricing are listed on the membership page and may evolve as CDA grows.
-
Membership does not include:
Guaranteed bookings or roles.
Guaranteed income or minimum number of opportunities.
A promise that CDA will act as your exclusive agent or manager.
Legal, tax, or financial advice.
CDA can support your career, but you remain responsible for your decisions, schedule, and financial planning.
-
Memberships may be billed monthly, annually, or on other terms shown at checkout.
You can cancel at any time; cancellation stops future renewals and your access continues until the end of the current billing period.
Membership fees are generally non‑refundable once billed, except where required by law or where a specific offer states otherwise.
More detail is in our Membership Cancellation & Refund Policy.
-
Your membership or consultation fee helps fund:
Time spent sourcing and sharing opportunities.
Review of your materials and fit for curated projects.
Planning and delivering consultation, coaching, and portfolio/social‑media support.
Filming and content‑capture support when offered.
The systems, tools, and admin work that keep CDA running.
You are not paying for a guaranteed job—your fee is for services and access, similar to paying for a class, workshop, or coaching container.
-
For certain memberships, events, or sessions, CDA may:
Capture photo/video of your performance or participation with your knowledge.
Edit and package the footage to highlight you and/or the event.
Share selected content on CDA’s website or social channels.
You generally keep ownership of your performance in that content, and you can repost CDA‑shared clips on your own channels for your portfolio, as long as you credit CDA where practical.
If you’d like us to stop using a piece of content in future posts, you can email us and we’ll review in good faith.
-
If a client wants more than a simple Listing—for example, they want CDA to help scope the project, source talent, and build a shortlist—CDA may treat it as a staffing or curated request and require a Staffing Request (Talent) Deposit.
That deposit:
Confirms the client is serious.
Helps cover CDA’s time for intake, sourcing, screening, and introductions.
Does not guarantee that a booking will occur.
Deposits may be credited, refunded, or non‑refundable depending on where we are in the sourcing process. Full details are in our Talent Staffing, Job Board & Deposit Policy.
Payments & Logistics
-
Unless CDA explicitly states otherwise for a specific project:
Clients pay talent for gigs, classes, or roles.
Payment terms (rate, hours, schedule, duration) are shared at or before the time an opportunity is offered.
Talent can accept, decline, or negotiate based on those terms.
CDA may help facilitate communication and logistics, but we are not automatically a party to every talent–client contract.
-
CDA is built to respect and protect creative ownership.
You keep ownership of the creative content you submit (videos, photos, choreo descriptions, etc.).
CDA receives a limited license to host, display, and share that content as needed to run the job board, review applications, and promote our community.
CDA will not sell or commercially license your content to third parties without your explicit permission.
You may not download, copy, or reuse another member’s content without their consent.
-
CDA is registered in Virginia and currently focused on serving Virginia and surrounding regions first, especially for in‑person gigs and partnerships.
Over time, more opportunities may be available across the East Coast or beyond, especially for remote, travel‑friendly, or content‑driven work. When a Listing or curated opportunity has location requirements, those will be clearly stated.
-
Typical steps:
Explore the job board to see what kinds of opportunities live in CDA’s ecosystem.
Join the email list or community channels so you don’t miss new calls.
Apply to join the Collective (if a membership tier fits your goals), so we can better understand your skills and what roles we should consider you for.
Book a consultation or strategy call (if offered) to get focused on your next steps.
-
You can:
Browse the site to see the types of talent and events CDA supports.
Submit a basic Listing for the job board.
Or, if you want hands‑on help, complete a Staffing/Talent Request form to start a curated process (which may involve a deposit).
We’ll help you clarify scope, budget, and timeline so we can match you with the right talent whenever possible.
-
For anything not covered here:
Use the contact form on the website,
Schedule a discovery call with our talent/client recruiter or
Email us: info@thecollectivedanceagency.com.
We can help you figure out whether CDA is the right fit, whether you’re a creative looking for support or a client exploring your first project with dancers, DJs, or choreographers.
